It was here during the Civil War that President Jefferson Davis sat and guided the South in its revolt against a powerful federal government seated in Washington just a few hundred miles to the north.  Today, Richmond and its surrounding areas are a mecca for Civil War buffs and students of the romantic South.  Choose two of the following sites and follow the directions given at each site.
