| Since design and architecture is an integral part of the construction cluster at Shawsheen, we should pay close attention to the design of one of Savannah's historic homes, the Davenport House. Through the years the house built in 1820 fell into disrepair and was almost razed to build a parking lot. Luckily the property was saved from destruction by Historic Savannah, a foundation that aims to preserve gems of Savannah architecture. Take a look at the Davenport House and notice the raised basement and the window in the arch under the stairs. | |
