Salutation

The salutation (sometimes called Greeting) should always be addressed to a specific person.  If you do not know the person who is in charge of hiring or who will most likely receive your cover letter and résumé, then telephone the company to request that information. This action shows initiative and will most likely be the first chance for you to set yourself apart form the other candidates.

The greeting should be formal (it shows respect) and followed by a colon.  Unless a specific title is given to you, women should always be addressed as Ms.

Avoid using, To Whom It May Concern,  Dear Sir, and Dear Madam.

Your letter should now look something like this.
