Every writer has a style of his own, his own way of expressing himself. Part of that style is the way the writer uses literary devices to help him put across to his reader not only what he wants to say, but also what he wants the reader to understand and feel about the characters, the action, and the theme or the idea behind the plot. In order for you to better understand Salinger's style in The Catcher in the Rye, find three (3) examples of five (5) literary devices used in this novel, giving the page number for each example. Identify the particular literary device being discussed and explain it within the context of your example. Refer to the Literary Devices Page as a guide.
