BIOGRAPHY

plays have always dealt with issues that we wrestle with as a society. Miller is not
afraid to force his audience to face that which it would rather remain hidden. Although
his works shine a light on our weakness and foibles, he always, however, emphasizes the
strength and magnificence of the human spirit. The human spirit not only endures in his
plays, but it prevails!

THE CRUCIBLE:
FACT vs. FICTION
The Crucible is, of course, based
on fact. The major events portrayed in the play are part of our history. This does not
mean, however, that everything that happens in the play actually happened exactly that way
back in 1692 or that the characters portrayed by Arthur Miller are direct copies of their
Salem counterparts. Check out this
site and complete the work in your notebooks. |
