Johannes Kepler remained a very God-fearing man for his whole life, for which reason - different from Galilei - he was in accord with the church.
He was the first to discover the laws of the planets which later were named after him. Therefore there were five planets moving in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. Consequently, the earth was a planet just like others.  Kepler provided fundamental works for the development of the astronomic telescope.  His philosophy is based on a cosmic harmony in which God, the hidden master, can be made experienced and felt through the approach towards his wondrous variety of creation.
